On 3 June, the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine and Chernivtsi City Council launched EU Sustainable Energy Week, which is taking place in Ukraine for the eighth consecutive year.
A specialised “Smart City” area was designed for visitors, where they were offered the chance to taste coffee prepared with solar energy.
Another thematic area was dedicated to experts’ discussions on sustainable energy topics and the transition to green energy.
EU Sustainable Energy Week continued the following day in Chernivtsi with a discussion on “Local energy and climate policy for community sustainable development”, in which representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development of Ukraine, the Delegation of the EU to Ukraine, the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P) fund and the Covenant of Mayors East participated.
One of the topics discussed was the improvement of the energy efficiency of buildings in Ukraine, which is a main priority of EU assistance to the country. The participants also had the chance to visit buildings which have had their energy efficiency improved.
