Environmental Protection Through Coffee —— Rotary Beijing 2016 German Christmas Bazaar
Arabica Coffee Roasters is proud to have been able to participate in the Rotary Club of Beijing's 2016 Christmas Charit Bazaar.
The coffee served at the event was a special Jane Goodall Organic Low Carbon Blend, and of course the best milk on the Chinese market right now, Arborea. Arabica Coffee Roasters was very happy to be able help support Rotary's causes below, and thanks Arborea for their support also.
Rotary is made up of three parts: at the heart of Rotary are our clubs, that are supported by Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation.
Rotary clubs bring together dedicated individuals to exchange ideas, build relationships, and take action.
Rotary International supports Rotary clubs worldwide by coordinating global programs, campaigns, and initiatives.
The Rotary Foundation uses generous donations to fund projects by Rotarians and our partners in communities around the world. As a nonprofit, all of the Foundation's funding comes from voluntary contributions made by Rotarians and friends who share our vision of a better world.
Together, Rotary clubs, Rotary International, and The Rotary Foundation work to make lasting improvements in our communities and around the world.
Rotary has a long history in China that dates back to 1919 when the first club in China (and the second club in Asia) was chartered in Shanghai. This first English-language club was predominantly comprised of expatriate Americans and British, but it soon took on a very international flavour as it welcomed other nationalities to its roster including prominent local Chinese businessmen.
Rotary flourished in China before and after the war, and ultimately spawned 33 clubs throughout the mainland up to Liberation in 1949. After 1949 however it quickly became impossible for Rotarians to meet and so most members moved abroad and so the remaining clubs were formally disbanded by Rotary International in 1952.
