Drinking coffee is a kind of enjoyment, it is a part of life, it is something which can be enjoyed when busy or at leisure. Likewise, listening to jazz music is a kind of enjoyment which enriches our lives. Jazz itself is a way of life, but it can also be understood as a kind of attitude; you can listen to jazz, watch jazz, taste jazz. DJ Zhang Youdai, on considering the conceptual overlap of jazz and coffee, expresses that in the beginning, both have a touch of bitterness, you need to spend time, proactively, to fully appreciate the flavor. Gaining a deep understanding of the flavor of coffee comes through paying attention to your sense of smell and taste, both of which senses are also important to gaining a deeper understanding of Jazz. 

Youdai’s mission is to bring not only Jazz music to China, but also the philosophy of Jazz to China, in order to help evolve China’s appreciation for the dimensions of Jazz, and through this hopefully show people that a lifestyle which includes Jazz is not so far removed from their lives. 

Jazz can be a cultural symbol of a city. Youdai, who is practically “the voice of Jazz in China”, is deeply passionate about music, and spares no effort to promote jazz in China. Worldwide, jazz has influenced many areas of culture, and art; including painting, literature, etc.. Jazz can become a window, introducing people to the world. Similarly, coffee, coming from countries around the world, can also act as a window to the world. Partly because of this “Worldliness”, coffee is being accepted by more and more people, as it has over its long history of coffee. Following this acceptance of the drink, the culture which coffee goes hand in hand with, "coffee culture", is also developing. Regardless of whether it is drunk in the home, the office, at cafes or restaurants, or in any variety of social occasions, it helps tie modern life together.
