姚明觉得阿罗科的咖啡怎么样啊?

 Shanghai, China – September 27, 2011:

China’s most celebrated basketball star Yao Ming and British magnate and founder of Virgin Group Sir Richard Branson joined forces with WildAid at URBN Hotel on Thursday to call for a ban on shark’s fin soup in China.  With almost 200 media present at the event, the ex-NBA basketball star and British tycoon helped drive WildAid’s strong, but simple message: when the buying stops, the killing can too.

Sir Richard Branson, in a short but poignant speech to the media, described the consequences of a world without sharks, citing the eventual fall of the oceanic ecosystem over time.  He went on to explain that a ban on shark’s fin in China alone could save tens of millions of sharks annually, a frightening statistic.  Sir Richard also congratulated URBN Hotel for hosting the event and for pledging to never serve shark’s fin soup, applauding China’s first carbon-neutral hotel’s efforts to help conserve not only the planet but also its wildlife.

WildAid spokesperson and Shanghai native Yao Ming also emphasized the importance of saving the sharks, a belief that hits home on a personal level: he is the current owner of the local Chinese Basketball Association team, the Shanghai Sharks, with whom he started his basketball career in 1997.  “The shark fin soup doesn’t even have any flavor, but more important if you take all the sharks out of the ocean you destroy the ecosystem and we lose the other fish that sustain us every day.”  Since retiring from basketball, Yao says his number one priority in life is to use his high profile to make a positive difference in the world.

As Yao Ming and Richard Branson spoke, they sipped URBN\'s organic Fairtrade coffee, from Arabica Roasters\' "Fresh Cup" Brand.  In keeping with the goals of the event and the principles of Arabica Roasters, URBN, and WildAid, Organic Fairtrade Fresh Cup Coffee is grown sustainably by small farmers, and then purchased at fair prices.  While we didn\'t get a chance to ask Yao and Sir Richard directly, they certainly seemed to like it!
